Fourth Grade US Regions Projects

As our fourth graders “travel” around the country learing about geography, they are chosing ways to share what they learn with another fourth grade class in Illinois. Here are some of the projects created for the Northeast and Midwest.

Fifth Grade Podcasts

Some fifth graders in Miss Nutt’s room worked with Mrs. Hughes and Mrs. Harrison to create podcasts about the time of the American Revolution. They imagined themselves Patriots who were writing to convince neighbors who were undecided on the issue of leaving England to follow their cause.

Please enjoy their podcasts below.

Fifth Grade Blogs

Fifth graders in Mrs. DeLeo’s class are blogging on the Internet for the first time today. Thirteen students returned permission slips affirming their parents’ willingness for them to try blogging from school. Their web logs are not public, not searchable, and they are monitored by me, their CRS. I’m excited by this opportunity to see how fifth graders use blogging. Although we don’t have a lot of time to blog this year, I will learn the mechanics of setting up blogging for a class so that next year we can start earlier.

I’m excited and I think the participating students are, too. We had a brief review about cyberbullying and Internet safety, watched “Blogs in Plain English,” by Common Craft, and we’re off!

First Grade Writes about US Patriotic Symbols

The bald eagle Bald Eagle, Washington Monument Washington Monument, and American flag US Flag are three of our patriotic symbols. They stand for the United States and remind us of our freedom. What do they mean you you?

Podcast – Griot Stories

Griot Story Introduction

Happy New Year 2008!

A resolution is a promise you make yourself to improve in the new year. It might be something you aren’t going to do anymore, something you will start doing, or something you will do better.

Do you have a resolution you would like to share? Click “comment” and add it. Maybe we will be able to graph the types of resolutions Thunderbirds make.
